Welcome to Reception

Class Teacher - Miss H Anderson
Class Learning Support Assistants - Miss H Rifflart & Miss E Hitchen
In Reception, the children have opportunities to work in small groups, as a whole class and independently. The children are encouraged to become independent learners and problem solvers through stimulating play, learning and a caring environment. The Reception class offers a play-based curriculum with exciting learning opportunities in the six areas of learning.
The outdoor area is an important part of our classroom and therefore the children will be using it for their learning in all weathers. Please ensure they come to school appropriately dressed for any weather.
The children have daily opportunities to practise phonics, mental maths and learn outside. Every child reads to an adult from the Reception team at least once a week. Book bags should be brought into school at least once a week so that we can change the books. This includes a staged book and a book chosen by the children to encourage reading for pleasure.
